Hi,

When I open this .mp4 video file, VLC 0.8.4 only plays back the first few frames and then crashes.

The file plays back fine with Windows Media Player 10 using the Nero Video Decoder.

Here's an error report :

I have exactly the same problem with this .mkv file :

Intel Pentium 4 processor 530J

Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2

I uninstalled VLC media player 0.8.4, deleted my preferences and installed VLC media player 0.8.4a.

VLC still crashes when playing back the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC files.

Is this the same bug as Ticket #432 H264 decoding issues?

I can't play hdtv format file (Shrek 2, Nero AVC). VLC plays it for 4 - 30 secs (smoothly but from time to time image freezes for about 1-3 secs) and then image freezes for 10 - 15 secs (while sound still playing) then VLC crashes. CPU load is from 35 to 75 %. System: P4HT 2800 1024Mb NVidia5200FX WinXP Pro SP2 + All Updates (+ latest nvidia drivers).
