3.0.6 File names of recorded videos

Postby boogie086 » 28 Feb 2019 03:22

Hello

I was able to use the setting in Input/Codecs / Record directory or filename as E:\Downloads\$t -%Y-%m-%d %Hh%Mm in order to set the directory and the filename in older versions of VLC
Now I am only being able to set the directory and not change the name
Should I keep using an older version or is there a fix to this or they changed the way I can rename the files to whatever I want

Hi,

you can only set the directory output, the filename is fixed to "vlc-record-%Y-%m-%d-%Hh%Mm%Ss-$ N-$ p"

But I don't think this has ever been configurable, I think you mix it up with the snapshot.

I guess that is why I am able in the 2.x versions or earlier, because this wasn't intended?
But it even says so in the title [b"]Record directory or filename"[/b]

If you could install an earlier version like 2.x and put E:\Downloads\$t -%Y-%m-%d %Hh%Mm in Record directory or filename and see that it works and maybe let us know what is wrong if you can? Because this doesn't seem to be only my issue , another guy had a similar issue if I can post links https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... me#p483004
He says at the end he was able to change prefix though in version 3.0.1 which I tried to find but no luck
