VLC 3.0.6 for Windows 64 bits and Lumix GH5

After upgrading to VLC 3.0.6 for Windows 64 bits videofiles created with Lumix GH5 makes VLC unusable. The file is not rendered and the VLC-screen just flickers. Videos created with my other cameras (Nikon, Sony) work just fine.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also please upload a short sample of a problematic file to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57724&p=193335#p193335
100 MB max should be enough.

Yes, confirmed, I can reproduce the issue whilst it's playing fine with other players, FFplay included.

Code: Select all

Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High 4:2:2 Intra@L4.2 Format settings, CABAC : No Format settings, GOP : N=1 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 50.000 FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:2 Bit depth : 10 bits Scan type : Progressive

You should create a new ticket on the VLC Trac with the link to your file and to this thread.

Hello together,

I can play the linked Video without any Issue in the VLC-Player 3.0.6 (32-Bit) under Windows 7 (64-Bit).

Perhaps the Issue is only in the 64-Bit VLC-Player Version?

Works for me on master

10 bits 50fps seems hw related

If you're using VLC 3.0.x and have video issues.
Try:

  1. Preferences -> Input/Codecs -> Disable hw decoding
  2. If you are a Windows user, Preferences -> Video -> Change from direct3d11 to direct3d9
If any solution works, please tell us which one solved your case, Please also quote your video driver name and version.

Same behaviour for me (not playing) with VLC x86 when using D3D11 decoding.
But it's playing fine with D3D9 on both x86 and x64 versions.

The Video will not play with the VLC Version 3.0.6 (64-Bit) under Windows 10 (64-Bit).
Graphic-Card is "NVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti" with Driver Version 23.21.13.9135 from 18.03.2018.
All VLC-Settings are select as automatic or default.

I get the same Result with the latest Geforce Graphic-Driver 25.21.14.1771 from 11.01.2019.

My Windows 7 PC with VLC 3.0.6 (32-Bit) has built in an "AMD Radeon HD 4000" Graphic-Card.

Workaround until the D3D11 problem is fixed, set VLC to use DXVA2:
Tools -> Preferences -> Video
Output = Direct3D 9

Tools -> Preferences -> Input/Codecs
Hardware accelerated decoding = DXVA 2.0

Then save, exit and restart VLC.

@Lotesdelere

Thanks for the alternatively Workaround with selected "D3D9" Video-Output.

Now the VLC-Player 3.0.6 (64-Bit) playing fine the Cam-Video with the "NVidia GeForce Graphic-Card" in my Windows 10 Computer.

Perhaps the Problem will fixed with the next VLC-Version.

Tried the above to see if it might stop pixelation when I cast videos to my TV.
MP4 videos casted well.
But MKV videos then would not cast at all.
Back to the drawing board.

Hi,

While on my desktop the suggested workaround worked perfectly, on my cheap laptop there's no way to play these files:
On 64 bit version I see a steady frame an audio only
On 32 bit version, VLC UI flickers and the app is not responding anymore so I have to terminate it via task manager.

I'm using VLC 3.0.10 on a Windows 10 i5 and a Intel HD graphics 620.

Any solution?

Thank you in advance

I am currently usig 3.0.17.4 (Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit) and a few weeks ago the first ProRes files started to make problems while using the VLC player.
I am no longer able to see the content (I can only hear it). Right now, there is hardly any ProRes file left I can play probably with the VLC player.

I already tried to change the suggested Output with no improvement.

Help please! I'm happy for any suggestion!

Undo what you did "a few weeks ago" that seems to have triggered the problem?
