VLC 3.0.5: Subtitles not displaying from commercial DVD

Hello,

I've just started using the VLC player to view DVDs on my computer. The video is far superior to watching it on an HDTV from a standard DVD player, and I'm very happy with it.

I have been having a problem getting the subtitles to work on some of my DVDs. The DVDs have their own subtitle tracks; the program allows me to select one of the subtitle tracks, but subtitles are not displayed. Some of them have options for closed captioning that have worked, but there aren't closed captioned options on every DVD.

If my source media is a commercial DVD, can VLC recognize a subtitle track from the DVD on playback from my computer?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have also encountered this after upgrading to 3.0.5. I downgraded to 3.0.3 and that restored the subtitles.

Again, many thanks HughNV! There was the same problem with VLC 3.0.4, and now it is working with 3.0.3.

Just tried 3.0.6 and that works.
