Remember Audio Playlist and Position on exit then reboot

All,

I've searched and search and fould lots of references to VLC actually having this feature (The __ONLY__ reason I installed it on Windows 10 because the Windows Media Player on this machine cannot remember a playlist or position) Then I found links to plugins which might have worked at one time. So far I find nada which causes VLC to remember an Audio (don't care about video, I'm listening to mustic and Podcasts at work) playslist and the position in that list when VLC was exited.

This sounds like a very simple thing. At some place in VLC it knows this information, but doesn't appear to write it to any permanent storage. I've been writing software over 30 years, so this "sounds" simple to me. Especially on Windows were applications have a directory to store such things in.

Am I just missing something?

Here you go.

  1. Click Tools ---> Preferences and checkmark the radio button at the bottom of the menu to enable the Advanced options.
  2. In the Search bar at the top, type: QT and then double click the Qt menu,
  3. Checkmark "Save the recently played items".
  4. In the "Continue playback?" menu, change "Ask" to "Always" via the dropdown menu.
  5. Click "Save" and then close and restart vlc.
Here's a screenshot.

Hi,

What you want doesn't exist yet (except for the last position). You can check if there is a feature request on https://trac.videolan.org/vlc or create one if none exists.

[Checkmark "Save the recently played items".]
That option does not appear on the version I just downloaded. Your instructions were in 2018. Now it is 2020 and things seemed to have changed. Does anyone know of a way to make this work? Thanks

Tools -> Preferences -> Interface
At the bottom, in the Privacy/NetworkInteraction section.

Yes! I also need this feature on exit or reboot. I also check the "Save the recently played item". But it's not work for me.
