Problem in Downloading the actual release: Language is always Dutch.

Postby KlaJ3401 » 25 Oct 2018 18:22

Trying to download the actual release in German, I always receive it in Dutch (i.e. language of the Netherlands). This also happens when I chose the English or Spanish version.
Is there somebody who can help solving the problem?

VPN maybe? All you would need to do is to switch your location to Germany. I use Mullvad myself. Very private, in fact they don't even want to know who you are.

This seems to be a general issue and I'm asking the admins to have a look into it.
As it looks like vlc doesn't apply the selected menu language settings at all.
It sets the registry key HKCU\Software\VideoLAN\VLC\Lang properly, but that setting gets never applied, neither directly after selecting it nor after a vlc restart.
I have just verified that vlc always uses the User Interface language for the menus. In our case we set up our Terminal Server (Windows 2016 Server) in English but also added the German User Interface language.
When my user account is set to English UI language vlc shows its menus in English, when my UI language is set to German, vlc shows the menus always in German.
I for myself would like to have this behavior as an restricting option, wich should be either set within the registry in the HKLM hive or within the vlcrc file.
But if this option is deactivated vlc should follow the settings selected in its preferences.

In the vlcrc file the "menu-language=" option is always activated, however in my case it is always set to the value "de", probably because we are located in Austria and the German language usually applies to us according to our location.
Question to the admins: Is this setting generally meant to define the location? Because in that case the naming for that value is quite irritating...
