Hi,
First time user here!

I would like to stream my desktop locally using http. VLC has an option for choosing http as type of stream but it automatically adds screen:// to the beginning of the URL.
I need a url in the form of http:// not screen://
Can it be done, It looks like as it used to be in that way but It seems to have changed!

Unfortunately I could not find anything useful in the documentation.
The documentation is incomplete and extremely old, just see the timestamp of the page "This page was last modified on 9 November 2014, at 10:18."

Yeah, a lot of the documentation is old, but still valid in most cases.

Try the steps in this tutorial instead. Skip part 1 and begin at part 2.

That guide creates a stream of a file, it does not stream the content on the desktop.

It is possible to stream any Windows PC desktop with VLC to any streaming device or other PC. You just need to use a different version of VLC. There is a YT how to "desktop stream windows 7". To pickup the stream on different PC use VLC Ctrl N and input source PC ip:port/Path
