Mouse Cursor Disappears

Upgraded VLC from v3.03 to v3.04. Now when the mouse cursor moves over a playing video it disappears. This happens for both full screen and video in a window. v3.03 and earlier did not have this problem. No changes were made to the VLC setting options after the update. Other video players show the mouse cursor over a playing video.

It would seem to have something to do with v3.04. I did a search for any other post with this issue but didn't see any. Leading me to believe this is another one of those "I'm the only one with the problem" issue. Anyhow does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be?

I'm running 3.0.4 and the mouse pointer is visible when playing a video.

What you can try doing is to go to Windows Control Panel ---> Mouse ---> Pointer Options tab and then checkmark the option to "Show location of pointer when you hit the CTRL key". Sometimes it's not where you think it should be.

I have the same problem. I upgraded from 3.0.2 to 3.0.4 and mouse cursor is not visible in video. When I downgraded back to 3.0.2, the cursor is visible again.
(Windows XP SP3, checked on two machines with the same OS).

This happened to me in 3.0.7 with automatic rendering. It also wasn't showing the OSD in full screen.

I selected OpenGL and it stopped.

Have the same problem with version 3.0.8.
Also the position info of the timeline disappears because it is in the region
of the played video screen.
None of the hints in the answers did help...
(How to select OpenGL?)

It is not mentioned in the versions log that there would be a change
in the pointer behavior, so this really seems to be a BUG!

Have downgraded to version 3.0.3 and have the mouse cursor again.
It helps to see the pointer if you have to switch from the top line controls
to the timeline bar. I have to check multiple audio streams at different points
in the video and thus have to move the mouse pointer from top to bottom
very often...

I had the same problem with version 3.0.11.0, but not right after the upgrade. Days later.
Go to Tools drop-down menu at the top, choose Preferences. Bottom left, choose Show All.
Scroll down to Interface, click on it.
Click on Control interfaces. Click on Gestures. Enter 1 for Motion Threshold.
Select Left for Trigger button.
Scroll down and click on Video.
Put a check mark in Mouse events. Scroll down to Hide cursor and full screen controller after x milliseconds and enter 5000.
Click on Save at bottom. Close VLC, and re-open it.
That should do it.

Hello all!
As I mentioned in my last post, I have downgraded to 3.0.3 to get rid of that problem.
I consider downgrading even more, because version 3.x.x seems to need a very long time to start displaying the video
with blinking the screen several times before the video starts.
Earlier versions displayed the video instantly.

Hello everyone!
I have found a FIX.

Go to preferences which opens the simple preferences.
Staying on simple preferences go to the video tab.
Change whatever is selected in "Output" to automatic.
Close and restart.

For me it was in "OpenGl video output" which was giving the issue yet setting it to "OpenGl video output for Windows" or "Automatic" fixed it.

You can try changing it to something else if this doesn't work.

Hope this helps. :)

P.s I'm running VLC 3.0.11(latest as of now) on Windows 10.

Go to advanced settings and down to "Video" then "Outputmodules" and change videooutputmodule to "OpenGl video output for Windows" then Save and restart VLC :D
