UHD 1260p works now!?

This is more of a general inquiry then a technical support question. Amway when I first tried playing a UHD movie the framerate was bad and the colors were washed out. However this was a few months ago so I thought what the hell and try again. Only this time time it actually seems to work. t first I was getting no picture but once I chose opengl as video output I was getting good results. This is great news but when did this happen. I searched the changelogs for UHD and 2160p play back but couldn't find anything. I just wish to know more about how this was achieved.

Not sure, doubt there was a specific fix regarding this.

If you want to know the exact version of vlc this got fixed in, try downgrading minor versions until it doesnt work anymore and you will know.

The washed out colors should be better in 3.0 especially since 3.0.2.

For the stuttering you may have to force ffmpeg threads to 1 when using hardware decoding. Otherwise the GPU sometimes get overloaded and it can cause stutter.
