v3.0.4: Undocked 'Fullscreen Controller' (2x Issues)
Posted: 23 Sep 2018 03:46
FCI:
Quick Summary:
Config: 2 Screens (D1 + D2) with Video Full Screen on D2.
Issue 1:
Trying to drag FSC (FullScreen Controller) undocked of course from D2 to D1 gets stuck between D2 and D1. (Finally works after 3-4 tries.)
Issue 2:
FSC keeps going back automatically to D2 as soon as Mouse Focus has been lost on it on D1.
>
More Info, more Details...:
Since I recently updated VLC to v3.0.4 (don't know what exact Version I had previously, previous Update was maybe 2 months earlier), I notice that the 'Fullscreen Controller' (='FSC') doesn't work "correctly" anymore with a Video playing on an external Display (Monitor or Beamer), in Full Screen Mode, and I undock the 'Fullscreen Controller'.
The "Purpose" is to move the Controller to my main Display on my Laptop.
The Drag & Drop doesn't really work anymore, the FSC gets "stuck" between the 2 Screens in 3 out of 4 attempts the first time, I need "surgical precision" to find a spot (with the Mouse) to be able able to move it again, I usually first need to go up again (on D2), and then down again (towards D1), and after 2 or 3 times, I finally manage to drag it to D1.
("surgical precision" means that 1mm to low or too high and I click on the Timeline and the Video then jumps automatically to that place, which is obviously not what I want...)
Once I've finally managed to drag the FSC to D1, if I move my Mouse away from the FSC, it automatically disappears (OK, that was always the Behaviour...) (hum..., even if I would like a Setting to prevent it from disappearing), but before v3.0.4, I would just move my Mouse a little bit onto D2 and the FSC would reappear at the same Position where I had left it on D1, but now, nope, it's completely back to its original Position on D2, (and therefore visible for "Public" who are supposed to see only D2), and I have to drag it back again to D1, from where it will disappear and go back automatically to its Default Position on D2 again as soon as I move my Mouse away from it...
This Behaviour is new from v3.0.4 (unless I missed some intermediary Update since I last updated VLC, about 2 months ago, I think...).
I recorded the "Messages", as short as possible, to demonstrate the Pb in Verbose Mode, if that can help...
I start with the VLC Instance already in Maximized State on D2, 'Playlist' View, Double-click a Video, Full Screen, Undock FSC, move it, move it, move it (until it works...!) to D1, move Mouse away, and go and grab it once or twice to drag it back to D1:(No Timestamps in the Log but "everything" took less than 10 sec...)
>>>
+ Some EnhReq's:
- I really miss some Shortcut(s) and/or some Mouse Gesture to undock/redock the FSC (for the VLC Instance that is "Active" and has the Focus).
- Some Setting to keep the FSC visible and not automatically disappearing.
(I use VLC as a DJ/VJ, well VLC for the VJ/Video part at least, sometimes with the Audio part (of a Video-Clip), but often only with/for the Video part (Audio muted), I always have People dancing in front of the Screen, especially on the lower part where the (docked) Controller is located, and the Screen is sometimes 10m away, I can hardly see the mini Icon for 'Undock FSC' (and my Mouse Pointer even less...!), it's often a complete hassle when I start using a new VLC Instance before I manage to undock the FSC. (And I usually use 4-6 VLC Instances, and I need to do it for all of them...!) And I still need from my Laptop Full Control over the Instance that is being projected on D2, for Audio AND Video, I need to be able to start/pause/go-back/jump/stop/mute/unmute in 0.5 Sec, not in 10 Sec... )
>>>
OK, I hope I'm posting in the correct Sub-Forum, I'm not sure my Issues are specific to Windows (I only use VLC on Win10), but you don't seem to have any "General VLC Sub-Forum" for non-OS specific Threads, all Sub-Forums are related to one specific OS...
EDIT: Arrgghhh....!, I notice only (quite) later that you do have a 'General' Sub-Forum for non-OS specific Threads..., not very "handily" placed after 6 different OS specific Sub-Forums, this 'General' Sub-Forum should be placed first on the main Board and not "lost a bit" in the middle of a long list...
I guess some Mod will be able to move my Thread if needed...
VLC v3.0.4 [Vetinari], x32. (I guess, no Info about "x32/x64" in 'Help/About' but installed in 'Program Files (x86)' and many Files mention "x32".)
OS: Win10-Home_x64.
Multi-Display (x2/x3): D1=Main Display Laptop, D2=Secondary Display (HDMI), D3=Third Dislay (VGA), D2 and D3 on 'Extend Display', D3 is not relevant for my Report...
