When I open VLC, it opens this black window too, and when I close it it closes VLC Too. what can I do?
this started to happen 2 weeks ago

Actually, you may not have to do this. This happened to me as well, all I had to do was this:

1. Go into Preferences
2. Show all settings
3. Interfaces
4. Main Interfaces
5. Uncheck "Lua interpreter"
6. Click save

Give it a shot. Not sure how it ended up enabled for me, but quickly fixed without losing all my settings, thankfully.

Just for the record, this suddenly happened to me also (and its what brought me here) but what fixed it for me was unchecking the Qt interface on the same menu. I know its an old post but i just wanted to add this in case it happens to someone else too.

This solved the problem for me in Vetinari 3.0.18.
Hopefully this bump can help someone else find the solution to this annoying problem.

I had exactly the same issue on Vetinari 3.0.18. suddenly starting on 3 June 2023. Solved it by unchecking the Lua interpreter. Wondering what that was supposed to be doing which my player will lack now. Thanks a lot anyway.
