VLC vs. Quicktime when playing back quicktime movies

Postby cellplex » 30 Nov 2005 18:35

Are there any fixes/improvements under development that will address the streaming/buffer issues when playing back MPEG-4 video with AAC audio.

If I use the quicktime player, no matter what source .mov I choose or location (web server) I always get near perfect playback with quicktime player.

When I try any of the .mov files with VLC I get a few frames then pause perhaps another few frames then nothing. It just seems that quicktime player handles this almost flawlessy while VLC seems to have some fundamental issue in playing back simple http file served movies.

I have tried increasing the buffers but this just delays the point at which the playback stops.

Any thoughts ?

Cheers.
