Is there a smaller version with the player part only .

We only release full features binaries, but if you want, you can compile it yourself with --disable-sout.
Additionnaly, you can remove most of the streamer features by removing the "stream_out_*", "access_out_*" and "mux_*" DLL files in the plugins folder of VLC installation
