Windows 10 update causing an issue?

Since the most recent Windows 10 update VLC has an issue. It will play files but no progress bar appears and I can't select anything as the programme immediately crashes. The only way to exit is to ctrl/alt/del. If I try to open VLC nothing happens, but when playing a file it will open. I have uninstalled and installed a fresh copy but the issue is still there. Anyone else having this issue or know of a possible fix? It was all working fine until Windows 10 forced the update on me yesterday. Thanks for your time folks.
