Audio Issues

Hi, I've been using VLC for years and have never had an issue. Recently I tried to play a video file, that I had played numerous times before, and suddenly the audio went out of whack. The music that plays within the video sounds fine, but when someone speaks there's nothing there. I thought it was maybe a fluke with the video file I was playing, even though I had played it the day before with no issues, but then I tried playing other video files and the same thing occurred. The music plays fine but the dialogue within the video doesn't come through. What is going on and how can I fix it?

I've had exactly same issue since upgrading to 3.0.2 - worked perfectly fine on 2.8 (or thereabouts, can't recall exactly) that I had previously.
So I reinstalled 3.0.2 but this time selected delete preferences and cache, and all worked aok this time.

I have a similar problem with Audio: Watching Cable TV streams (provided by Vodafone Kabel Deutschland = DVB-C) using their generated *.m3u files may result in loss of voice/speech but background sound may be OK. Switching from available "Audio" track to another, e. g. from default "Titel 1 . [Deutsch]" to "Audio description for the visually impaired - [Deutsch]" may solve the problem but one get additional comments depending from what is just transmitted at the TV program. Also sometimes the speech sound is not fully suppressed but at a much lower level than normal; this also depends on the current TV program and can be seen often while watching films but not with live transmissions or newscasts. etc. This problem can be reproduced with any version 3.0.x (also tried beta 4.0). With version 2.2.8 there is no problem with that. BTW: Reinstalling with delete preferences and cache did not solve this problem at least on my machines (Windows 10, 10 preview, Windows Server 2016/19).

I am just watching live Transmission of football match "Austria - Germany" on ZDF via Cable TV using VLC 3.0.3 on my computers screen. By default Audio track and Stereo mode the commentators voice is fully disabled. Using the Audio menu and switching from "Titel 1 [Deutsch]" to "Titel 3 [mul]" enabled the voice again. Restarting VLC and using Audio menu again but this time switching Stereo mode from "Original" to "Stereo" also re-enabled the commentators voice. Seems to be that VLC 3.x has really problems with automatic selection of correct Audio values.

Had the same problem. Right click on screen when watching content with vlc, than Audio -> Stereo mode and than choose Stereo. This solved my problem.
