Colours glitching when viewing TV recording

Postby dinnerplate_extreme » 21 May 2018 19:26

Hi. More of a bug report than troubleshooting.

Problem:
When viewing TV files in VLC the colours on my screen get messed up. I'm guessing it's a colour luminance inversion or something, as bright areas remain bright and dark areas remain dark, but everything else is inverted e.g. red becomes blue and so on.

Going into full screen returns colours to normal... but:

The big problem, however, is that the issue remains once playback is stopped - whether VLC is returned to windowed mode, or even after VLC has been closed directly from either state.

System:
Windows 10x64 Home
AMD Ryzen3 2200G with Vega 8 graphics
Latest drivers & updates installed + latest bios

---
Notes:
I tried playing the same files back in MPC-HC, and I did not experience any problems.

Hello,

If I understand well, your whole screen has some color issues, during and after VLC playback ?
If so, this seems more of a AMD driver issue.
Is it something similar to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3dilFjemXA ?

Note: thanks for the MPC-HC feedback. Unfortunately, it is not using the same video output framework as VLC, so this is not unexpected.

Yeah, that looks just like it. Certainly looks like an AMD issue. Lucky for me I guess that this particular problem has so far been contained in VLC.

Thanks for the reply.

Can you try to change to D3D9 output or OpenGL in preferences?

AMD released a driver update, and this issue appears to be fixed!

Thanks
