Hello folks,

i am having trouble streaming to my chromecast while having the web interface activated. I try to do that to remote control vlc with my mobile phone (samsung S7). I am currently using Windows 10 and VLC 4.0.0 (nightly). Also tested with VLC 3.0.2

I am allways getting the following error message:

gnutls error: Certificate verification failure: The certificate is NOT trusted. The certificate issuer is unknown. The name in the certificate does not match the expected.
http error: cannot add stream /
stream_out_standard error: no suitable sout access module for `http/avformat{mux=matroska,options={live=1}}://(null)'
main error: stream chain failed for `chromecast{ip=192.168.2.73,port=8009}'
main error: cannot start stream output instance, aborting
main error: Failed to start sout
direct3d11 error: SetThumbNailClip failed: 0x800706f4

If i have the web interface deactivated everything works fine.

I tryed to change the port for http from 8080 to say 9090 (propably to avoid a possible conflict) but it did not help. error message stays the same.

Can you help?

Also: Happy Easter!

Does playback via the http interface work ?
The Chromecast does use a HTTP server instance, maybe there's an incompatibility here.

jyrvindrial,

I can confirm this bug as well, and have been able to reproduce it on 3.0.1 and the nightly builds as well. So far I have been unable to get around this issue. Were you able to find a resolution to this problem, or have you filed a bug report with the VLC development team so that this can be addressed?

OS: Windows 10 Pro x64
VLC Version: 3.0.1

I'm having this exact same issue, simply check the "web interface" button in Main Interfaces, restart VLC player, and try to use Playback > Renderer > Chromecast. It will fail, every time.
