I have VLC 2.2.6 and when I click "check for updates" it says I have the latest version, however I see the version 3 is available. What's the story with that?

We don't enable automatic updates immediately after release, because there are usually quite a few crashes to fix

ah ok, v3 is quite new is it. yet it's the main option on your website, so all new users would get a potentially unstable version.
From what I've seen it does BR menus, which is nice, used to have to pay for a separate application!

Well we do have to ship it still! We just don't force it to all users.
While 3.0 is quite stable, there's only so much our team can test. Once it's installed on hundred thousand or millions of computers, there will always be some unforeseen issues

Yup, understand. I would have thought one approach is that once it's good enough to make your main download package, rather than a "beta", it's also good enough to offer as update within existing package.
I do appreciate the massive effort that goes into this, as a free piece of software, so don't think I'm being ungrateful! It was just a bit confusing to me, as a computer literate person, when I was searching for latest version to try to get BR support.
Thanks again!
