MP4 container with h264 and 5.1 audio

Postby Hiney32 » 10 Feb 2018 03:46

Hi,

Setting up a Plex media server and using Apple TV Plex app to view the videos.

Therefore I need to have my films in an mp4 container using h264 video codec.

I’m using VLC convert/Save to convert my MKV files to mp4.

Had it working fine with stereo audio via mp3 but I tried to change to using 6 channel audio (for 5.1 audio) using mpeg4 aac. Suddenly my file size dropped to around half or less of what was expected, the file seemed to convert very quickly and no video was displayed when playing it back.

I’m very new to all this video/Audio stuff with converting and different codecs etc.

Can someone tell me exactly what to do and what settings I need to use h264 video with 5.1, 6 channel audio with the VLC convert/save feature.

Many thanks,

Joe

Have you tried VLC 3.0 ?
