How does VLC3.0 fix the "gray screen" problem?

You know, VLC2.2.x has a "gray scrern" problem when playing a real time stream, while VLC3.0.0 don't have this problem.
But VLC3.0.0 introduces so many other serious bugs so that I can't use it untill it tends to be stable.
I want to fix the problem for 2.2.x but I can't find out where the problem lies.
Anybody has a good idea?

Try another video output module:

And/or disable/enable GPU acceleration:

You can also try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.

Thank you anyway.
I must use the vout module vmem, and I rendering the frame using OpenGL and conert YUV to RGB in GL shaders.
I've tried all of the options in "Advanced Preferences -> Input / Codecs -> Video codecs -> FFmpeg" and "Advanced Preferences -> Video" and "Simple Preferences -> Video", these options don't work.
