VLC won't play certain DVD's

Postby webb1234 » 24 Nov 2017 03:44

VLC won't play certain DVD's of mine, most of my DVD's work fine but there's a certain few that won't; although the DVD's work on my Xbox and Playstation and DVD Player for the TV.

So here's the first thing I try:
https://ibb.co/iTSkk6
and when doing so, I just get stuck on:
https://ibb.co/noHUCm

So then I try (no disk menus):
https://ibb.co/iyMBQ6
and I get:
https://ibb.co/fuwNXm
but then after a second of playing:
https://ibb.co/hyA5k6

This message will be continued but due to maximum of 5 URL's I cannot proceed

This is a continuation of my previous post

So then I try:

but again, I just get stuck on:
https://ibb.co/hVZWQ6

I'd also like to point out that the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS can be accessed:
https://ibb.co/mPNJ56

Any help is appreciated.

I'd just like to say that all of my drivers are up to date, and I am running Windows 10.

To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.
:!: If you want your problem to be solved :
* First read troubleshooting guide VSG:Main
* Always provide verbose LOGS ! (command line or from gui)
* Always check your issue against a developer build from Nightly Build of VLC
* Tell us when your problem is solved !

I've tried the latest release 4.0.0 "vlc-4.0.0-20180123-0508-dev-win64.exe"

It shows no error messages in Message console.

It begins to read the disc when I press play, but then takes me to this gray screen with the E:
and the disc stops spinning as if it has nothing else to read.

The disc works with other software on the computer with the same DVD drive.

There are about 6 dvds of mine that do not work with VLC but work with other software and on other devices.

Apart from that, a lot of dvds work with VLC.

I believe that VLC cannot understand the timings of when to switch to another video file, an example would be on discs that work
that the video shows a company logo for roughly 7 seconds with their animation and sound, but with VLC it takes me to the next
video too quickly and cuts out half of the company logo. Perhaps VLC can't read which file to play next but other softwares can.

So as I assumed the problem is with VLC not knowing what to do next after taking me to what's called "DVD Menu" which is 0 seconds long and takes me to the actual menu which is known as a title.

If I press play, the gray screen comes up, and I go to playback > title > (choose a title)

then I get to where I need to be.
