VLC Converted file does not play sound on WMP

Hi,
I'm an newbie to this form and I have a simple problem which hopefully you can easily solve. I have a DV AVI file from a camcorder which I want to convert to MP4 using VLC. Using VLC's default settings and selecting the Profile Video - H.264 + MP3 a new file is generated which can be played on VLC. But using Windows Media Player (WMP) or Win 10's equivalent "Films and TV", the video plays but there is no audio. :( If I use Handbreak with a similar profile, the generated file does play on WMP with audio. Is there any setting I need to change in VLC to resolve this issue? Below is the mediaInfo of the original file. Thanks for any suggestions.

Recording and transcoding are somehow broken in recent builds, this is a known issue awaiting for a fix.
Meanwhile you should use an older version (v2.0.8 or 2.1.5) or a v3.0.0 nightly build.

Hi Lotesdelere
Thanks for the tip. You are correct, it is a build issue. I first tried the nightly build 3.0.0-20171112 but it was worse than the current build 2.2.6. The current build plays the video with sound on VLC but loses the audio when played on WMP. The nightly build does not play the audio in either VLC or WMP. As for 2.0.8 and 2.1.5, they both play video and audio. I should be happy :) and I am, that I know the issue known and is being addressed but there seems to be a little problem specifically with the video in the older versions. While the video runs smoothly in all VLC versions tested above, when played on WMP, the two older versions seem to lag or "shutter." I don't notice this problem with the current version or nightly build. Perhaps the developers fixed the video shutter problem but in the process messed up the code for the audio. I don't know; I'm only speculating.

Anyway thanks for your help. From here I will proceed to test versions between 2.1.5 and 2.2.6 to see if there is a version that plays the video and audio on WMP without the shutter effect (there may be a more appropriate descriptive technical term for this effect). If not, I'll test the nightly builds to determine when the audio issue is fixed.

Thanks again,

Candive

Still seems to be an issue. No Audio in Windows Media Player nor in the new TV And Videos app from Converted files. This happens for a file ripped from DVD using the H.264 + MPEG and H.264 + MP3 profiles. I even tried Converting the resulting .MP4 file with the settings and it still gives no audio. Tried vlc-2.2.5-20170511-0513.1-win64, vlc-2.2.6-win64, vlc-2.2.8-win32, vlc-3.0.0-20171209-0924-rc1-win64.
