How to delete play history

Under VLC Menu: As default, under Media/Open Recent Media lists all media played. Can this default be changed where the watched videos are not listed for others to see, rather than having to manually delete every video watched?

You could just not save the recently played items. Tools -> preferences -> uncheck save recently played items.
Save and restart VLC for it to take effect.

I tried to raise the issue of restarting being against intuition for a setting like this,
ticket 18701. The result was an angry developer.
It seems things like these will remain for a while longer, they have their hands full with other matters. (no offense to the dev)
