2.2.6 Spins up External USB drive when opening a file on C drive

I'm just double clicking on a file in my Videos folder on :C (OS SSD) and there's a delay in VLC starting because it's waiting for the external 8TB drive to spin up which is unnecessarily being accessed.
This is in Windows 10 x64 Home 1607

I was pretty sure that this never used to happen, so I installed 2.2.4 again and the external drive doesn't wake up.

It could be a fluke, so I'll post again if 2.2.4 does it as well.

Save recently played items filter D:/

Only drawback is that you don't get to resume playback from D:/ drive.
