Ooops: VLC media player just crashed (even with PC formatted)

Postby Teclitas » 16 May 2017 19:18

I'm going to put the thread in two languages. In my native language, which is Spanish and in English, using a translator. I apologize if you do not understand very well. Thank you.

Until recently, Vlc worked perfectly on my computer. I use a PC with Windows 8.1, updated with all security patches. At first, I thought that some program would have damaged something and that is why VLC did not work. I installed some codec packs and it did not work either. I can not play audio or video. A message always appears: Ooops: VLC media player just crashed.
It gives equal mp4, avi, mpeg, mp3, wav ... It does not start to play the file.

Yesterday I had to format my computer. I was glad, because I thought that after reinstalling Windows, I would have VLC running again, but no. With the computer formatted, Windows installed and updated with all its patches, I still have the same error.
That could be happening? I'm overwhelmed.

Estoy agobiado.

I saw a user a month ago that had just received the Windows updates, and one of them broke vlc. Also, the particular update was not a security update and was not needed. Uninstalled that update and fixed the issue.

Do you have automatic updates? Then you can tell what update may have caused the problem. When was the last time you used vlc? And we can search google for that update.

Hi zcot, thanks for replying. I have the computer recently installed and with all the updates. It would be difficult to know which update is exactly what damages vlc. I would have to remove all and try. I do not know, maybe I will. Thank you.

Finally, I uninstalled all the updates and reinstalled vlc. The program continued to fail and shut down. But, if I boot Windows in safe mode, it works.
I have again updated without updating the optional updates and it does not work either.
I'll have to find another player, though, unfortunately, I will not find any better than vlc.
Greetings.
