Open Windows explorer on your Computer, connect PocketPC to active Sync.
Change into folder where you've downloaded VLCpocket, copy everything and Paste into a folder on your mobile Device.
vlc.exe is executable from explorer on pocketpc.

Thank you very much but I have already done this without success ! The exe file is not recognised by my PPC (association program missing...). The only file that have been recognised is the .manifest, but of course this one is not executable !
Thank you for helping me !

Can you tell me on wich device you're trying to run VLC?
On my Siemens Loox it works . I use rhe Windows explorer to open the vlc.exe. It could be that you have to set other Explorer options. For example : show all files.

The same thing happened to me, Don't click on the vlc.exe file, instead open the 'vlc' file with the cone icon (it should be about 3.5 MBs big). It is beside the .exe file.
This opens the player for me, and I'm able to open files etc. However, when I go to play a video, the sould plays with no video. Do you have this problem also??? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I have copied the file and even tried all the builds available up to today.
the program simply seems not to run, as if no double click was made on it.
I tried running it with total commander and found out that it even chashes the launcher.
I tryied the files named vlc-0.8.4-test1-20051012-0130
on a PPC IPAQ RX3715
Any ideas?
6315 issue, too

I am wondering did anyone figure out a way to get VLC builds to work on the iPAQ 6315?
The files are copied and fully viewable but the vlc.exe file is not able to be executed.
Odly enough the files are listed in Windows explorer (on device) as vlc (3.52 Meg) for what should be the exe, vlc.exe (606b) which I believe is the manifest file and vlc48x48 (84.3k) which is the icon file.
Any help here, would be great.
The other thing that would work, I guess, is if someone could tell me how to get the VLC-PPC2003 version to work so that I can add files and make the sound work..lol.
I would prefer to have a way to get the nightlies working.
Thanks,
Kris

I downloaded the latest nightly build the 27th of December.
Copied exactly the same, with the same results.
I see all the files but alas the exe doesn't run.

Don't run the .exe from file explorer. Use the one just called 'vlc'. Stupid file explorer hides the extensions... so the one called vlc.exe is really vlc.exe.manifest and the one called vlc is vlc.exe.

by dont wanna register
you need to rename the exe file to LOWER CASE LETTERS.
mine came as VLC.EXE, and it works like that sometimes in linux for my ghetto builds.
once again, name VLC.EXE to vlc.exe
not able to install/start vlc

I use a Compaq iPAQ 3950 with Pocket PC2002.
I copied the files to an SD-Card and tried to run with Explorer.
Then the Message appears: "'VLC' or other components missing..."
Is there an other way to install?

Why do you still use Pocket PC 2002? Haven't you heard of something called UPGRADING?
P.S. I just installed it on my Axim X51v (Windows Mobile 5, VGA screen). Will add in a few secs how it goes.
My opinion.
IT IS CRAP. It won't let me browse to my NAHD (network-attached hard drive), like TCPMP will. Which is the main point of it right now. Oh well... I just hope someone updates the nightly from February...
