I created a number of MP4s (originally from DVDs) which contain an AAC stereo track, and an AC3 surround track. Whenever I use VLC's UPnP option to play them back over the network, if the AAC stereo track selected (the default), they will abruptly stop playing at a particular point in each video, the timing of which differs from video to video. Some will play halfway through, some will only play for a few seconds and then stop. This problem doesn't occur if I play them back with the AC3 track selected, and the problem also doesn't occur if I play them back locally in VLC.
I also tested them in Kodi and MPC over the network, but only VLC is showing this problem. I tested this on multiple computers, with the same result. I also wanted to test this on Linux, but UPnP is currently broken there due to the following bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1571199
For reference, I used Handbrake's Chromecast preset to encode MKVs (DVD rips created with MakeMKV) into these MP4s, and I have them stored on a hard drive connected to a router which uses Twonky to serve them over the network.
