Hi
I will try to keep this simple in the hope the replies match so that i may understand

What i am trying to do

8mm camcorder videos straight from the camcorder onto the PC via a video box from maplin. This works and i have the following options to output too....
VCD, SVCD, DVD, WMV, MPEG1 AND MPEG2.

From one of these I would like to convert to a MP4 file for uploading to youtube etc or to add to other software such as GoPro studio

Using the convert setting in VLC i have managed to change videos to MP4, however I only get sound when playing through VLC. If i try to play through windows or add the MP4 file to GoPro studio, I get the picture but no sound.

So my question is what am i doing wrong ?

1) What format should i initially out put to from the 8mm video ?
2) What MP4 file type should i convert too so that i get picture and sound.

Many Thanks in advance and please keep it simple if possible

What version of VLC do you use?

Try using an older version (2.1.5 or 2.0.8) and / or a newer version, for example version 3.0.0 (nightly).

using version 2.24

If i can find a download of an older version i will try.

What confuses me is that the converted files play with sound through VLC but not on any other media player ?
