Playback of dvr-ms files shutters / jerks / stutters

Playback of dvr-ms files shutters / jerks / stutters. Any ideas?

Workaround:
I'm recording TV movies with Windows Media Center (WMC) W7 as WTV. These WTV recordings are fine with VLC. Then I edit the movies with VideoRedo V4. Export as DVR-MS to be compatible with some old VISTA PCs at home (DVR-MS is compatible to W7 too).WTV to DVR-MS is only a rewrapping; no Encoding. 2 hours movie took with SSD around 30 seconds. All Metadata are still present. Editing and exporting (rewrapping) the original TV WTV recordings with VideoRedo V4 to WTV again works fine. Exactly the same behaviour watching at local host, Streaming or with VLC Windows Phone App.

So, for the future I will find workarounds but this is my REAL BIG PROBLEM: The last ca. 10 years I recorded about 6.000 movies/documantarys. I started with VISTA WMC and I later moved to W7 WMC. W10 or future Windows OS will no longer Support WMC. So I have to look for other Playback Solutions for my movie achive without reencoding.

Here you will find a link with 3 small files of WMC (working and non-working) recordings. Maybe it helps to find a Solution?

Tagesschau_Das Erste_2017_01_26_01_43_00 (original recording with preroll and postroll; Ok)
Tagesschau_Das Erste_2017_01_26_01_43_00_EditVideoRedo4 (edited recording, Export as DVR-MS; Stuttering)
Tagesschau_Das Erste_2017_01_26_01_43_00_EditVideoRedo4 (edited recording, Export as WTV; Ok)

If you need further information please let me know.

And thank you very much for such a great product like your VLC Player!!! You just received a donation. And sorry for my bad english :(

Looks like VideoRedo did something wrong because this file has playback problems with any player I've tried, some can not even play the audio.

Thank you very much for quick answering. Windows Media Center (WMC) Vista and W7 and Windows Media Player (even in W10) will Playback without any problems. But that can't be a solution, because WMC and even WMP will no longer supported.

I used exactly the same workflow (WMC recording, VideoRedo edit, Playback WMC) for around 10 years without any problem watching films. So, I don't think the files are "bad" at all. They are just not compatible. Do you see any solution for VLC Playback? I'm not alone with that problem because I have found other Threads searching "dvr stutter", but unfortunatly I haven't found solution.

If you want to have a quick fix with VLC, you can do so with --demux=avformat This will solve all your issues.

Thank you very much for the Information about the new Night Build Version. If it is not really necessary for you, I don't want to install that Version. With the last Night Build Version 2017-02-02 dvr-ms was working, but unfortunatly other Video Formats shutters. So I did a rollback to the official 2.2.4 and want to wait for the next official 2.2.5 which will hopefully include dvr-ms Support.

Playback of dvr-ms files will be important for me end of March when I will switch from my current Windows Media Center solution (for Recording TV and Archive Playback) to another Media Center solution. Maybe DVBViewer for recording, KODI for Archive Playback with projector ("Main-Movie-Watching-Point") and VLC for Streaming in guest room, Office etc.

For your testing my Link with dvr-ms files is still present. Of Course I will install the Night Build Version if you really need my Feedback or it will help you.

Thank you very much again for the dvr-ms help.

No, it won't. 2.2.5 is only a security fixes release.

You must test 3.0.0 and have fixes pushed there, with the shutters issues reported. Else, nothing will get ever fixed correctly.

Sorry I'm a bit late with testing. I just installed 3.0.0 20170220-0448 64bit at my PC with W10 Prof 64bit OS. The DVR-MS Testfiles at my Link shown above works fine. Even MOV, WMV and Mp4.

BUT: Before around 2013 I had worked with a Freeware to edit the DVR-MS recordings called "DVR-MS Editor" before I switched to a more comfortable Software called "VideoRedo". These old edited films done with "DVR-MS Editor" the Audio stutters hardly. Streaming that old files from Server I have no Audio at all. Video is fine. If using any Microsoft Software like Windows Media Player (Vista, W7, W10), Windows Media Center (Vista, W7) I have no Problems with any of the DVR-MS files.

For showing the Problem I just uploaded an old DVR-MS Editing done with "DVR-MS Editor" which you can find at the same link. I hope that helps . . . and thanks a lot.
