Help Improving Quality

I want the very best quality that I can when watching shows and movies. I recently just bought a 1080 FTW. When I got that, I took the time to do a fresh install of Windows 10 64 bit. I also downloaded the newest versions of VLC 64 bit. Video now seems very slightly pixelated around the edges of things now during playback. I do not recall it being like this before the reinstall and upgrades. I searched a bit and saw people having issues with a grey screen. I am not having that issue here. What can I do to up the quality to like it was before the reinstall and upgrade?

Please go to Tools/Effects and filters/video effects/essentials..
Just make sure that everything there is unchecked.
If checked, it must be properly adjusted.

To improve audio sound, disable "Enable time-stretching audio" which is default.
The option is in the "Audio" tab of preferences.

Thanks for this! Audio quality is just as important as visual quality to me!

Try this .Open preferences, show setting in simple mode.
click video tab, uncheck use hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.
click save, and restart VLC.

PS:
If you use equalizer, use "ISO-band" equalizer. VLC's original equalizer misses out very low frequency sound. To use ISO-band equalizer, from the Tools - Preferences;
1) Select "Show Setting" - "ALL".
2) Select "Audio" - "Filters" - "Equalizer".
3) Untick "Use VLC frequency bands".
4) Press the "Save" button.
