Slow to Skip Forward and Backward

Hey,

I am using the version 2.2.2.of VLC on Win 10 to watch recordings made with my Win7 Media Center. Whenever I try to skip forward or jump around on the video timeline I get long delays of between 5 and 15 seconds before the video starts playing again. If I open the same files with Windows Media Player I am able to skip around with less than 1 second of delay. The delay when skipping forward or backward in the video is even shorter I access the videos from within Win7 Media Center itself.

All the recordings are being stored on a NAS and accessed over a wired network. The problem isn't the NAS or the network speed. I have tired enabling or disabling GPU acceleration and neither one seems to make a difference.

Any suggestions as to how I correct this problem?

Thanks!

Hi. After posting the same or similar problem elsewhere on this forum i noticed your post. Did you find a cure for the slow response problem?

On our home network the HTPC where the TV shows are recorded is where the slow jump ahead/jump back response occurs. Strangely, other computers in the house can access the recorded shows from the HTPC and there's no delay when jumping ahead or back.

So, did you discover a fix yet?

It's hard to believe that there's such a large community of VLC users and coders 'round the world and yet no one can explain the problem or tell us how to overcome it!
