Runtime Error During Multi Angle Play

I have a few DVDs that provide multi angle options in their menus. When I choose any of the angles, VLC player always crashes with the following error:

Runtime Error!

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I found a very old discussion thread from 2005 (last response in 2012) that basically says the VLC's multi angle option is present but does not work properly and/or hasn't been tested.

Since many years have passed since the discussion, I'm wondering if there has been any progress made in supporting multi angles.
