Hi! I have a problem with VLC Media Player. I open my MKV file. Then I want to record small part of video (15 seconds) using record button in VLC. When record is done, I check it, VLC can plays it, everything is ok.
BUT. The video format is .TS and I would like to have it in MKV or MP4 format. So then I go back to VLC and I try to convert this 15 seconds piece from .TS to .MP4.

But everytime I click convert, the window immediately disappears and it acts like it is ''super speed done'' and it is in my output folder. Then I open the converted file but the error shows up with this message:
VLC can t recognize the input's format: The format of file:///C:/Users/_/_/2200.mp4 cannot be detected. Have a look at the log for details. (the details are bellow)

Is it possible to change recording output format somehow?
I just want my 15 sec file to be MP4 or MKV.

I have been searching the whole internet, but nothing. Please help, I really don t know what to do.
AND please, I don't want to use any other software. I want to solve this problem.

No, the record button records streams in their native formats but depending on the formats it will automatically use the best container according to these streams.

vobsub debug: could not read vobsub IDX file

Looks like your source file is containing some stream(s), maybe subtitles, that VLC can't deal with or can't mux.

In your case, the best is to use a dedicated video editor.
Some examples of free and open source ones, among other ones:

i have a problem l when i want to record any stream with Vlc. because the recorded clip is in .ts format but i want with MPEG-4 (h264) format.
so how can i adjust my recorder?
for example my url is:

and i need catch after recording with mp4.

Before it takes a long time to find a direct solution -
vlc should be able to convert a .ts file to .mp4

Start vlc, then CTRL+R - this will open a dialog to convert a video
