MMDevice, Wasapi, Asio (Where ot find & Install)

Good morning

I try to drive my NAD D 1050 DAC with VLC and bypass windows's Kernel Streaming Output to send 24/192 HD stream.

No problem with foobar 2000 + KS or Asio plug. But I like to keep my VLC habitudes.

I run 2.2.1 64 bits version under Win 7 Pro 64 bits

I read all the posts here with word search : MMDevice, Wasapi, Asio

I read that under VLS, Wasapi is inside MMDevice

But where to find it, and how to install it ?

Thats for your help

Regards

Thx for the links but it didn't help about MMDevice who is, if I had read correctly, a plug for VLC.

ASIO is not supported in VLC and it will not be supported ever.

WASAPI is supported from VLC 2.2 and the default from VLC 3.0, but exclusive mode is not supported so far.

OK, just a newbies question

Bypassing the kernel to send 24/192 stream is using exclusive mode ?

I also dig a more than a little bit and find "Virtual Audio Cable", I create a line and connect it to my NAD D 1050 using "Audio Repeater" (type KS into program).

With that I can select le stream needed, and oh miracle the stream is switched into the NAD.

But it is a manual swoitching, with foobar 2000 + KS plug the switching is automatic

As foobar is only an audio player, and VLC is realy more ;) , that why I launch my question.

With the rebirth of phono LP and analogic amplifier, DAC will become more present, automatic driving of DAC will be a good trick for VLC.

OK

It seems to work but it is not still as a foobar.

I explain:

DAC front look like

The 9 point is :

Image

The display illuminate the sample rate of the song readed.

When the digital stream arrive to the DAC, you hear a little click inside it, and an analogic stream is send to the amp.

As I read, if the DAC filter do a click, it is a direct stream.

But with foobar2000 + KS component, it work like VLC but in bonus the display show automaticaly the sample rate and change it without any action.

Of course I can select it manualy into

Image

And as the DAC didn't switch automaticaly to the good rate, I keep question about the real stream rate received.

OK, it seem that this problem didn't create reaction.

I continue to use VLC for video and foobar2000 for audio

MMDevice and WASAPI are supported natively since VLC 2.2, and used by default since 3.0. You don't need to do anything.
