Runtime Error Crash when Select Multiple Files & Right Click Play

Ever since I installed Windows 10 VLC has not worked as usual.

Normally in the old version of windows I could select a number of files and right click on them then click play and they would all be added to the play list and the last one would play.

Now, if I select multiple files and click "play with VLS media player" instead of "add to VLC playlist" it pops up not one but two error messages with the same message.
Microsoft Visual C++ Run Time Library\

Program: C:directory/vlc.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

Please contact the applications support team for more information.
this only happens when VLS is not open already. If VLC is already open it works fine. But if VLC is closed and I select multiple files then right click on them and press "play with vlc media player" I get those error messages.

Again, this behavior began after windows 10 was installed.

Using the latest updated version of VLC.

& YES, I have reinstalled it already but the problem persists.

I think the known issue with multiple file opening on Windows was fixed some time ago in VLC 3.0. What issue do you mean to wait for?

Awaiting to be fixed in a release.
The vast majority of people is using releases, not testing versions.

Current release version is 2.2.1, not 3.0.

I think the known issue with multiple file opening on Windows was fixed some time ago in VLC 3.0.
It's not completely fixed in VLC 3.0:
  • video output will be opened in a separate window
  • audio-only media will be played, but the UI looks like as nothing is playing (I think same reason as previous point)
  • If you closing VLC, it will appear a Visual C++ Runtime Error.
