VLC Plays Blu Ray for a Second Then Stops

Postby yedidyah » 23 Aug 2015 20:49

Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit
Pioneer BD-RW BDR-203 SCSI CdRom Device
VLC 2.2.0
Did: http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/
Testing with: LOTR Extended Blu Ray

I had VLC working great playing Blu Ray. But I did a Windows 8 reinstall (8.1 upgrade, 8.1 Pro ugrade) now I can't get it to work but only for a second. (BTW can't get NERO Blu Ray to work either. Can't get them to support their product either).

VLC Messages say this during play/crash:

libbluray info: First play: 1, Top menu: 1 HDMV Titles: 14, BD-J Titles: 6, Other: 6
libbluray info: Closing overlays.

Debug finishes with: "core playlist debug: nothing to play"

Nero is finally working (problem was with the program connecting to their servers) but VLC is not. I prefer VLC over Nero as I can't seem to get Nero to do anything other than play blu ray on a quarter of my screen where VLC used to use the whole screen.
The problem is a little different now.
The video seems to loop and crash on some title screen repeatedly until manual intervention stops it (yes I have the: "No Disk Menus" checked).

I had the same trouble before, and I has to switch to BDMagic for backing up my Blu-rays to hard drive, and then watch with VLC. That helps.

Dang the Blu Ray disk is the best way for me store movies not ripping it to my hard drive. Besides doesn't that create a great deal of compression (thus defeating the purpose of having a blu ray which is film quality (no compression, I hate compressed movies too "color cloudy"))? But I REALLY APPRECIATE your assistance.

I had VLC Blu Ray working before on this system (same OS, same BD player) now it does this junk.

No one has had this issue and fixed it?
