HELP! VLC crashes after playing perfectly for 30 - 90 min.

I hope someone can help. This is starting to be very annoying. After playing for some time VLC crashes! Freequently I even have to reboot to get it going again.
I've tried to experience with different versions 8.00-8.02 but there is no difference, reinstalling windows xp (with service pack II).
The CPU usages is fine aswell.
I've run out of options to try. I really hope someone knows of af fix to this problem!!
