No sound on DVB-T2 (HD) recordings from Media Centre

I'm using VLC 2.1.5. It plays SD recordings made with Windows Media Centre without any problem. However all recordings made in HD from a DVB-T2 adaptor have no sound when played using VLC.

Looking at Audio | Audio Track, two sound tracks are offered in the menu - presumably normal programme sound and audio description for the blind. However I don't get any sound whichever of these I choose.

The WTV files definite have sound because they play fine in Windows Media Centre and in VideRedo. It affects raw as-recorded WTV files, as well as those which have been edited in VideoRedo.

VideoRedo lists the properties of the WTV file as:

File: Name : T:\Recorded TV\Manual Recording_BBC One HD_2015_07_27_15_05_00.wtv

If I save the WTV file as H264 TS format, using VideoRedo, the sound plays fine. It looks as if the decoding of H264 HD WTV files (as opposed to MPEG SD WTV files) isn't working properly.
