All of a sudden ive started having trouble with this VLC media player. Ive been using it years and its been fine. I'm not sure if its because I've had lots of Windows updates recently . I have the latest version of vlc .
I am playing a purchased dvd in my drive using the vlc player and I am recording a short scene. Its being saved as an .mpg in my Video folder. Normally all my files would be associated with the VLC having the orange and white striped cone icon. But now, the mpegs all have the black and white video camera icon. (see pic below) You can see the mpg file association has switched over to Infraview instead.
When I try to play them back in the vlc media player, there is audio, but NO picture?

As per some other suggestions I did try to disable the hardware decoding acceleration but it made no difference. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled several times. I don't understand anything much about the coding details.
What can I do to fix this please???
This is urgent for me as I manage several Australian Actor Official Fan Pages and must get some clips up.
