VLC won't install

Hi,

I am trying to install VLC on Vista Ultimate 32 bit (SP2) without success. When I click on the installer, the blue wheel spins for about one minute, and then nothing happens. I am logged in as admin and I have tried VLC 2.2.0, as well as 2.2.1, and I have downloaded the installer several times - always with the same unsuccessful outcome.

I am not sure if this is related, but VLC 2.1.0 worked before, and I tried to update to the latest version. Unfortunately, I did not uninstall the old version first, which may be the cause of the reason. In any case, I did now uninstall the old version, cleaned the caches and registry with CCcleaner, but still having the above problem when trying to install. Maybe there are other residues I have to remove?

Any ideas would be highly appreciated, as I am using VLC for virtually every multimedia operation.

Many thanks.

This is weird. Try the 7zip version.

Thank you Jean. The 7zip version works, so it must have been something with the installer. Just to confirm, as the 7zip version is the unpacked version, do I just place it into the Program Files folder on my system drive and create all shortcuts to VLC manually? Or is there anything more to do?

Many thanks.
