Video contrast visibly different between two monitors

Postby thefowles1 » 08 Apr 2015 05:05

When I'm playing a video in VLC, there's a noticeable difference in contrast for the video depending on which of two monitors I use. Normally I would presume this is a difference in contrast between the monitors, but this is not the case, as both monitors have their contrast set to the same level, via both GPU software (nVidia control panel) and hardware (monitor OSD settings).
What's interesting is I notice an automatic shift in the contrast of the entire video frame when moving VLC from one monitor to the next; it's as if the contrast of the video is different based on whether the VLC window is mostly on one monitor or the other. I can drag VLC so that its vertical center just crosses over from one monitor to the other, and the contrast visibly shifts for the entire video frame right before my eyes.
This occurs no matter the video filetype.

These screenshots are cropped to show where my two desktops meet; notice how the contrast is different once the vertical center of VLC moves from one to the other.

Being a person who's very particular of fine details, this drives my quasi-OCD up the wall. Any idea what could be causing it?

I am using VLC 2.2.0. If you need hardware/software versions/settings of anything else that I'm using that may be relevant, let me know.

Not sure if bumping is allowed, but I would appreciate any advice at all about this. I don't know what's causing it, and it's extremely irritating.

I feel so dumb for not finding that. Thank you so much; that solved it.
