Unable to load VLC web plug-in

Postby manny2003 » 31 Mar 2015 21:08

Hi, I usually try to resolve my issue without disturb other people but this time I am really running out of ideas.
I am on Windows 8.1 x64, with Firefox 36.0.4 and Chrome 41.0.2272.101.
I have a problem that apparently is common to other users also here on the forum: the browser plug in is well installed and apparently loaded when looking inside the plugins panel of both Firefox and Chrome. The npvlc.dll is loaded and active but in Firefox, when I try an embedded video, it ask me if I want to execute the VLC plugin and then the video area become blank. Chrome it follows the same path but at least it tells me that the plugin cannot be loaded.
Apparently is not related to the browser. I tried with different VLC versions with always the same problem. Installed and uninstalled thousands of times.
I know this should work because I am able to run the plugins inside a Virtualbox Win 8.1 x64, with the same browser versions.
It seems it something on my machine that vlc does not like.

I will be very glad if someone could point me, at least to a way of debugging. Does anybody now how to recover some more information about this inability of running the plugin in Firefox or Chrome, a way of having some logs somewhere. I really would like to understand what happening when the loading fails.
Please, any hints will be much appreciated.

EDIT:
Finally found the problem. VLC uninstall does not remove, at least in my case, libvlc and libvlcore in syswow64. Just delete them manually.
