Audio playback device won't stay selected.

I want to use VLC to watch videos and to playback the audio to my PC speakers. It does this, once I set the audio playback device to "speakers". However, whenever I turn off VLC than turn it on again the audio is played back to my system default audio device (which is not my PC speakers). So each time I start a video, or audio, in VLC I have no sound until I manually switch my audio playback device to PC speakers in the VLC program.

Is there a way to get VLC to store my audio playback device selection so that each time I use VLC I automatically have the sound coming from my PC speakers? :?:

how are you doing it. through settings or from one of the buttons at the top e.g. media, playback,

if you haven't already, try looking for a permanent solution within settings

Try forcing "Windows Multimedia Device output" for audio output in the VLC preferences. In principles, Windows is supposed to remember that VLC uses a different device but YMMV.

[quote="tomackley"]My apologies for asking my question on the Windows specific forum. As I am running VideoLan exclusively on Windows PCs, my question was intended to be "Windows specific", not being familiar with how it behaves while running on other OS's I, simply, wouldn't know that they would encounter the same problems as when run on Windows.

I will attempt to be more cautious and discerning on any further questions. :?:
