vlc 2.1.5 crashes when streaming to mp3

out of eight audio cd's that i have streamed to mp3, vlc has crashed twice before. however, either because i cleaned the cd and the cd drive, then rebooted and changed output destination from removable disk to c:, i was able to successfully stream those two.
on this ninth cd, none of my previous actions has succeeded. there is no problem playing the cd on either vlc nor wmp. i ripped the cd, using wmp, to five wma tracks on c:. i tried streaming those to mp3, using vlc, and got the same crash.
every time i restart vlc, i send an error report. the last time i tried to stream, i set verbosity to 2, but i don't where to find the log file!
