No video thumbnails in playlist

Hello. I have Windows XP SP3 32-bit and VLC 2.1.5 (and tried fresh 3.0.0). VLC doesn't show video thumbnails in media library or playlist except if video has built-in cover. It shows VLC logo (cone and disc) instead of preview. Even if it folder!!! My files are .mp4 .mkv .wmv (and folders). Please help.

For future reference. The VLC media player doesn't generate previews like other players. So you can take a snapshot of the video and then open up information on the media file.Then right click the default VLC cone image to the right of comments. And choose "add cover art from file". Then select the image you want for the media file icon.If you setup a snapshot folder in VLC preferences. All of your video snapshots will go in there.
