Unable to stream youtube

I'm sorry if this has been answered in another thread, but here goes.

I am trying to be able to play songs off of youtube on TS3, and I can do that through VLC streaming. I have 64x TS3 and Windows 8, but I had 32x VLC. TS3 said that it wasn't compatible because of that. I was able to stream videos with the 32x VLC media player. Once I changed it to the 64x however, I get the error:

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwbj2gzzTpk'. Check the log for details.

The download on the website is version 2.1.3, and when I update it to 2.1.4 I get several errors, the first of which is:

Error opening file for writing:
C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\libvlc.dll

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure where your problem comes from but youtube changed something on its website during last July, so first of all start by updating the youtube.lua script which can be found here: http://git.videolan.org/?p=vlc.git;a=bl ... ua;hb=HEAD.

In fact, there is another problem with windows 64. Here is the bug report: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/11897.

I'm just trying to play youtube videos in vlc player I get the unable to play mrl error message on some videos.. The posted link to update youtube script is complicated. I wonder if you could simplify it for us. Some youtube videos play fine and others don't so not sure what's going on. I tried deleting scripts and preferences and even reinstalled vlc player but didn't help. thx
