VLC doesn't play the next video in list, it skips all over

I'm trying to watch a bunch of tutorial videos, and for some reason VLC keeps skipping from like the first video all the way down to like video 20, and then back to like video 10... It's all over the place. The names of these videos that VLC keeps skipping to aren't in a particular order, so I'm not sure how it's determining which one is next.
Is there a way for me to fix this so that I can watch these videos starting from top to bottom?
