problem with audio card: Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer

Postby popo1960 » 05 May 2014 18:05

Hi

I have vlc 2.1.3 + audio card Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sb0730 with driver 6.0.230.4 on windows 7.
VLC doesn't see any audio device but system does. There is some special driver or plugin for vlc support ?

thanks for any advice

HI,
I don't know if this will help or not but have you got the Creative Product Identification Module Update installed?, links below:

Troubleshooting Sound Issues on Windows 7:

Number 9 on the above checklist:
Download and install the Product Identification Module. This update resolves the hardware/device detection issue for Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi and X-Fi Titanium series of audio devices in Microsoft® Windows® 7:

I have the same sound card as you (all be it a different version number the SB073A) but I have not got around to installing the drivers for it yet on Windows 7 so let me know how it goes.

*** Note though: I'm using VLC version 2.08 (on Windows XP) with the same sound card and driver as you have as I couldn't get surround sound out of the later versions of VLC player, all I got was one hell of a noise instead, you can read about it here:
