need help converting mp4 file to mp3 in VLC 2.1.3

Hi just updated VLC player to version 2.1.3 and whenever I try to convert a mp4 video to an mp3 audio file it saves as a .raw file? In the old version It the mp4 would save as an mp3. Can someone please give me detailed instructions how to convert an mp4 video file to an mp3 audio file in VLC 2.1.3 OS Is Win 7 home premium 64 bit. Thanks in advance.
