DVD menu overlay doesn't show if DVD selected from "

Hello.
With the movie "cars 2" DVD [1] if I open VLC, then select "devices -> disks -> local drives [expand] -> d:\

It plays the dvd fine...but the dvd menu's have no overlays on them, which I think is unexpected.

If I go Media [menu] -> open disc -> select d:\

then it works as expected.
Anyway will report it on trac within a week or two.
*possibly* related to https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/5055 but it's hard to know for sure.

It feels like there's something odd at play here, as well, like if I ever have once opened that disk using the (failing) method, then opening it via Media [menu] -> open disc
subsequently will also not display overlays.

And sometimes it just plain refuses to show overlays, no matter what, even if I clear preferences first. Odd.

Thank you.

Because you need to open the DVD metadata, to get those.

OK in retrospect it's not related to 5055 at all :)

Basically, sometimes the DVD menu selection highlights just don't show up at all...seemingly reproducible at least in windows.
